Rounding up a Christmas Tree

L to R, Olivia, Grandma Joyce, Jeb, Lisa, Cole & Jenni

Last Friday while downstate for the holiday Jeb and Lisa decided it would be a good day to go round up their Christmas tree. It was a chilly morning with a cold wind blowing as we headed to a tree farm about 30 minutes north of their home. The tree farm was nicely laid out with a great selection of trees located in separate 10 acre or so plots of each tree type. They put you on a hay wagon and a tractor pulls you out to the area that contains the type of tree you are looking for. Jeb & Lisa decided they would like to try a White Pine this year.

The trees were all beautifully trimmed and with so many it became hard to
pick just the best one. Finally after looking through the whole plot everyone agreed on the "best" one. After Jeb sawed it down we took it back out to the lane to await the return of the wagon to take us back up front.

We spent some time looking at the hundreds of wreaths on display, took some fun family pictures, and enjoyed some hot cocoa or cider around a campfire before heading for home with this years tree.

We are lucky to live in the UP and to have several trees to choose from on our own acreage. Our trees aren't trimmed well or as full of branches as the tree farms but the price is right! Christmas will be here before we know it.
